Less But Better
Blossom and Boom
Since the blossoming of the renaissance and the boom of the industrial revolution all the way up to the information age, technology has simplified and enriched the lives of people around the world. Technology is one of those things that takes a lot of work up front to get right but saves countless hours of work and toil moving forward. It is the investment we make to improve our lives in the physical world. Water sanitation plants, pipes and pumps bring clean water to homes. Automobiles and airplanes reduced travel from months to hours. Technology has truly removed barriers and allowed us to spend our times on other more meaningful things.
Remember and Rededicate
As the year comes to an end, it gives us a chance to reflect on the meaningful things in our lives. For some, it’s a time to commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ. For others, it celebrates a rededication of a sacred and holy temple. And for yet others, it is a time to rededicate our lives to the essential, for setting new goals, for establishing and strengthening relationships, and for having good fun. No matter the culture or heritage, the theme of identifying and celebrating that which matters most runs through each.
Less but Better
As technology has always been a core part of our survival and now thriving as a species, let us learn and apply some of the lessons it teaches. True technology does the hard work to simplify our lives. It clarifies and hones in on the essential. Let us identify the essential in our lives and focus on it. As we celebrate in our own ways, may we embrace the essential, have the courage to discard the non-essential, and simplify our lives. As we focus on what matters most, our lives will be filled with less but better.
